  • ABSTRACT: We propose a method for studying masonry vaults and domes, with the aim of providing a computational tool that can be used to evaluate the safety of masonry structures, as well as to guide the choice of strengthening operations. We briefly recall the constitutive equation and the numerical methods used for modeling the mechanical behavior of masonry vaults and domes and implemented in the finite element code NOSA. We then describe the study of an existing vault of historical and architectural importance. (literal)

Abstract
  • We propose a method for studying masonry vaults and domes, with the aim of providing a computational tool that can be used to evaluate the safety of masonry structures, as well as to guide the choice of strengthening operationes. We briefly recall the constitutive equation and the numerical methods used for modeling the mechanical behavior of masonry vaults and domes and implemented in the finite element code NOSA. We then describe the study of an existing vault of historical and architectural importance. (literal)
