- Lanthanum cobaltite LaCo03 is a perovskite-type oxide tschnologicdly extremely promising because of its potential application in environmental catalysis and in solid oxide fuel cells.
Many procedures have been reported for the synthesis of LaCo03 being mainly solid state reactions of metal components or thermal decomposition of precipitated precursors or the sol-gel method or a combination of it with other deposition techniques. In most cases LaCo03 was obtained from mixture of La and Co compounds being reported only three examples where a hetembimetallic La-Co complex has been used as single source precursor.
Because of the advantages of using single-source precursors such as the control of the metal stoichiomehy, the use of simple apparatus and less drastic operative conditions we focused our research on the synthesis of a suitable and versatile hetembimetallic complex in order to be used in CVD as well as in sol-gel process. - Here we report the synthesis of the La-CO alkoxide. CoLa(DiEtO)5 [DiEtO=
OC(CH2CH3)2CH20CH3],its use as single source precwsor for the deposition of LaCo03 and the XRD and XPS characterization of the films.
