  • A both theoretical and experimental approach was followed. The mathematical model set up by Author 1 was coupled with the experimental results obtained from a series of seismic tests on different arrangements of shearwalls for wood-frame buildings carried out at Forintk Lab. by both Authors. Final performance of buildings designed with different wall arrangements and different \"R\" factors was checked. Finally the best set of \"R\" values for different walls arrangements was suggested to designers. (literal)

  • A methodology for assessment of seismic design parameters for a wood-frame shearwall systems is developed. The influence of OSB, plywood and gypsum wallboard on the behaviour of the shearwall was investigated. A new force modification factor \"R\" for walls composed of a mixture of wood-based and gypsum panels was proposed for Canadian seismic code. (literal)
