  • Simple polyethers are commonly used as host materials for the preparation of ionic conducting system, by means of doping with suitable salts. These systems are usually termed polymer electrolytes and are of great importance for the fabrication of portable battery-operated electric equipment such as computer, video cameras, etc. and for the development of battery-powered electric vehicles. Recently it was discovered that a thermal stability and ionic conductivity of these systems could be increased by introducing inorganic components into the backbone of these materials. Therefore great attention is now being addressed to the preparation of new inorganic-organic hybrid systems superior to the classic polymer electrolytes. (literal)

Abstract
  • In the field of polymer electrolytes great effort is currently directed toward materials based on elements such magnesium in order to overcome the experimental limitations of lithium batteries and to obtain polymer electrolytes suitable for the development of sensors. In this work was to obtain and characterize a new magnesium polymer complex based on the linear copolymer poly[oligo(oxyethylene)oxydimethylsililene] with a sufficiently high molecular weight.
