  • Extruded films obtained by reactive melt blending of PET and HDPE recyclates (or commingled scraps) from postconsumer packaging plastics (beverage bottles, household products, etc.). The oriented and non-oriented films display good mechanical properties with strengths up to 120 MPa and elongation at break of 40%. (literal)

Abstract
  • The process of compatibilized blending of recycled poly(ethylene terephtalate) (PET) and high density polyethylene(HDPE) with ethylene-glycidyl methacrylate copolymer (EGMA) was carried out on a pilot plant scale. The extrusion and orientation of films from the compatibilized blends were developed on an industrial line and the structure and properties of the films were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, DSC and DMTA. The occurrence of an oriented amorphous phase of PET was reported for the first time. (literal)
