- This paper deals with the radiolarian cherts of Albania. The principal result obtained is the description of thirteen new radiolarian species for the first time. Some of these new taxa are very common in the cherts of the mediterranean area, and could be used as markers in a future local biozonation for the Middle-Upper Jurassic. This paper has been published on Micropaleontology. This journal is considered a fundamental reference point for all international researchers in this field. (literal)

- Radiolarian biostratigraphy has been carried out in many parts of the sedimentary siliceous formations of the Mediterranean area in the last years.
Well-preserved radiolarian assemblages of Jurassic age have been extracted from siliceous sediments associated with Albanian ophiolites: principally, the Kalur Cherts which overlie the basalts, and subordinate sedimentary siliceous beds intercalated in the basalts (Mirdita Nappe). The studied samples come from twelve sections described in earlier works ; nine sections belong to the Western Ophiolite Belt (WB), and three lie in the Eastern Ophiolite Belt (EB). Of these, ten sections are in the Kalur Cherts, and two consist of siliceous deposits intercalated in basalt flows.
The oldest radiolarian assemblages (late Bajocian-early Bathonian) are from the Kalur Cherts and sedimentary intercalations within the basalts, whereas the youngest assemblages (middle Callovian to early Oxfordian) have been found only in the Kalur Cherts Thirty-two radiolarian species from Albania are illustrated in this paper; thirteen species (Eucyrtidiellum? circumperforatum, Neorelumbra skenderbegi, Paronaella shebajensis, Sethocapsa aitai, Sethocapsa kodrai, Stichocapsa cicciona, Stichocapsa magnipora, Striatojaponicapsa glomerulus, Theocapsomma costata, Transhsuum crassum, Tricolocapsa formosa, Unuma michelei, Williriedellum nodosum) are described as new, many others are discussed informally.

- Abstract
- Well-preserved radiolarian faunas have been extracted from twelve sections in Middle and Upper Jurassic cherts of the sedimentary cover of ophiolites in the Mirdita area of northern Albania. The radiolarians are late Bajocian-early Oxfordian in age. Thirty-two radiolarian species are illustrated; thirteen species are described as new, the remainder are discussed informally. The ranges of all taxa are correlated with the Unitary Associations Zones (UAZ) of Baumgartner et al. (1995). (literal)
