- Abstract
- The correlations between phase composition of efflorescence (XRD) and chemical composition of soluble salts (ICP-OES) were studied over a wide range of Italian structural clay products. The most frequent types of efflorescence are those with calcium carbonate, followed by those with calcium sulphates or an association of Ca carbonate + Ca sulphates. Minor diffusion have the efflorescence with alkaline sulphates or magnesian compounds. The risk thresholds, expressed as the maximum quantity of soluble element beyond which a medium/strong degree of efflorescence may occur, were defined for each type of efflorescent salts. These thresholds correspond to the limits of sodium and potassium established by the British and German standards as well as the European draft standard. However, it would seem appropriate to lower the limit of acceptability for magnesium and introduce a limit also for calcium. (literal)
- Se ha estudiado la correlación existente entre la composición mineralógica de las eflorescencias (vía Rayos X) y la composición de las sales solubles (ICP-OES), dentro de una amplía serie de materiales cerámicos de construcción italianos. Los tipos más frecuentes de eflorescencias están constituidas por carbonato calcico, seguidas por los sulfatos calcicos o una asociación de carbonatos y sulfatos calcicos. La presencia de eflorescencias con sulfatos alcalinos y compuestos de magnesio es menos significativa. Se han definido, para cada tipo de sales solubles, los niveles de riesgo expresado como la cantidad máxima de elementos solubles a partir de los cuales puede asignarse un grado medio o elevado de eflorescencia. Estos límites corresponden a los límites de sodio y potasio establecidos en las normas inglesas o alemanas, así como en la propuesta de norma europea. No obstante, parecería adecuado disminuir los límites de admisibilidad en el magnesio así como introducir un límite para el calcio. (literal)
