- Abstract
- We present a new Lagrangian approach to study the evolution of a discrete or continuous one-dimensiona mass distribution under the action of a force generated by an interaction potential. Assuming the so-called \"sticky\" condition (particles will stick together after every collision) we will show how to construct a well posed evolution semigroup solving the pressureless Euler equation in a measure-theoretic phase
space. The theory also covers the special case of the Euler-Poisson equation, both in the attractive and repulsive regime, when the interaction potential is not differentiable at the origin. We will also briefly discuss some tools of convex analysis and optimal mass transport which play a crucial role in the analysis. (literal)
