- Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) fed to old rats has been reported to partially restore mitochondrial function and ambulatory activity. The results of the effect of ALCAR dietary supplementation to 28-month-old rats on mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) content of rat hindlimb skeletal muscles are reported. (literal)
