- Abstract
- The electronic band structure of Ag films deposited on two quasiperiodic templates has been explored by angle-resolved photoemission. Direct observation of sp-derived quantum well states in the metallic layers confirms the mechanism of electronic growth suggested for related systems, but points towards a symmetry driven process of electron localization, rather than to the role of the substrate pseudogap as a confining barrier. Furthermore, the in-plane free-electronlike character of the Ag levels shows that rotational disorder can coexist with band dispersion in multidomain film structures. (literal)
