- In the present study samples of soot collected at the exhaust of diesel and spark ignition engines, in controlled operating conditions, have been analysed in parallel to samples of model soot, widely used as a reference of pure carbon material. The same samples have been studied with X-band EPR spectroscopy, Raman and Infrared spectroscopy, and have also been characterized by electron microscopy, employed techiniques recently adopted to carbon nano-materials.
The first results of the correlation between the spectroscopic measurements and the toxicological test will be presented. (literal)
