Abstract
  • Optical manipulation by means of laser tweezers has been developed at TASC since 2002, originally within the LILIT group and as a distinct laboratory, called Optical Manipulation (OM Lab), since 2008. The aim of the OM Lab is the development of optical manipulation instrumentation and its application to the following fields of research: nanotechnology, biophysics and biomedicine. Main techniques used: advanced optical microscopy (FRET, TIRF, holographic), single and multiple particle manipulation by optical tweezers, laser micro-dissection, photonic force spectroscopy, micro-Raman spectroscopy, micro and nano fabrication. Present research projects include instrument development and experiments developed jointly with biomedical groups for: - optical tweezers cell mechanics for tumoral cells, - local stimulation of neuronal cells by optically manipulated vectors, - compact optical tweezers microscope for sample manipulation in experiments with focused Synchrotron radiation, - myosin-actin interaction based nano-motors array.
