  • Acoustic Emission (AE) time-series, as well-known, have become a valuable tool for monitoring and diagnosing anomalous geophysical phenomena, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. At present, there exist a number of AE recording sites regularly operating in Italy, Greece and Argentina. This paper will show the most recent results of AE data analysis exhibiting precursory signals possibly connected to incoming catastrophic natural events. Problems related to the interpretation of such anomalous features in AE time-series will be discussed taking into account regional and local tectonic and geological settings of the area where the AE station is located.
