- With increasing cost of the raw material, reduced supply of the logs and increasing global concurrence it is neceesary to reconsider conversion process of sawing logs. The process must be optimized in terms of the sawing quality (both roughness and dimensional accuracy) as well as yield. Therefore new sawing techniques (such as narrow- kerf sawing) or improvements of the existing techniques (such as an adaptive control), among others, are today/future trends in the wood machining. The paper presents how the kerf width changes in a function of the rotational speed of the circular saw. It is shown that just by controlling rpm speed of the saw it is possible to gain a yield and improve the cutting process efficiency. The paper presented is a continuation of the research presented in the previous COST E35 meetings. (literal)
