Abstract
  • technique to burning sprays. Droplets size distributions in isothermal, evaporating and burning sprays were inferred by measuring intensity oscillation spacing in droplet \"string\" images at a scattering angle of 60°. No difficulties were caused by gaseous density gradients and by laser light scattering and thermal emission from soot particles. In all experiments string droplets images were clearly defined and size function distributions easy to recognize. This permitted a detailed characterization of burning sprays. (literal)
