ABSTRACT: The increasing demand of medical care (both in quantitative and qualitative terms) and the concomitant need of expenditure containment impose to continuously explore innovative and more efficient ways in the effective medical management at all levels, including the outpatient level. Information technology represents a useful aid to pursue these aims. We here report two applications that have been developed by our group and are in the experimental phase; these applications facilitate the acquisition and the management of clinical information of outpatients, either without moving the patient from home (PAOLINA) or using the patient's waiting time before her/his visit at the doctor's office (OCCAM).
