  • A new method to isolate the two spectral contributions of PSI and PSII photosystems is proposed. This is based on the measurements of the chlorophyll fluorescence spectra during the rising phase of the Kautsky kinetics occurring when dark-adapted leaves are exposed to the light. A major advantage of this method is that it provides the actual PSII and PSI spectral contributions of the leaf under investigation, taking directly into account the effect of reabsorption, which depends on chlorophyll concentration, leaf structure and the PS stoichiometry. The proposed method is also useful to achieve a more direct link between fluorescence and photosynthetic activity (literal)
