- The exact location of subsurface cavities and the estimation of their dimensions has been studied through a case history. For this project, geoelectric and magnetic surveys has been carried out at the test site of ITABC-CNR, to detect subsurface cavities. The cavities are represented by tombs, contained in the Sabine Necropolis at Colle del Forno (Research Area of CNR). A 2D data-acquisition technique has been employed to reconstruct a 3D subsurface image of the investigated area. A smoothness-constrained inversion scheme for the 2D inversion of earth resistivity data and complex attribute analysis of the magnetic measurements were used. (literal)
