Abstract
  • The Lagrangian description of turbulence is very important in studies of mixing and dispersion. The following study focuses on the main aspects using data from high resolution Large Eddy Simulations and investigating basic results in Kolmogorov similarity giving an estimation of inertial subrange universal constants. It was possible to evaluate the velocity structure functions and the Lagrangian spectra in the inertial subrange, under different stability conditions, by tracking an ensemble of Lagrangian particles in the PBL simulated with a Large Eddy Simulation model. This allows a direct estimation of the inertial subrange constants and their dependence on the Planetary Boundary Layer stability conditions (literal)
