Abstract
  • Specimens collected from various localities in Montenegro and Serbia were previously described as Paralongidorus milanis and P. serbicus, respectively. However, SEM studies of the amphidial apertures of paratype females have shown that the species were originally placed in the wrong genus. Both species have pore-like amphidial apertures, not slit-like as in the genus Paralongidorus and they are therefore transferred to the genus Longidorus. Longidorus milanis n. comb. is regarded as a valid species whereas L. serbicus n. comb. is morphologically identical to L. moesicus, small morphometric differences being attributed to intraspecific variations. As a result, L. serbicus n. comb. is proposed as a junior synonym of L. moesicus (literal)
