Abstract
  • Silica, calcium silicate and silica/poli-caprolactone hybrid inorganic/organic amorphous matrilas, all mixed with sodium ampicillin, a broad spectrum antibiotic, have been synthetised by sol-gel method. The amorphouse nature of gels was aceascertained by X-ray. Release kinetics of sodium ampicillin in simulate body fluid has been analysed by UV and SEM.The release kinetics seem to occur in more than one stage. All data showed that these materials could be used as drug delivery bioactive systems. (literal)
