  • P2MESH is an object-oriented interface between the mesh generation and the formation of the discrete algebraic equations in the process of the numerical approximation of partial differential equations. The implementation of the software uses the C++ programming language and strongly exploits the basic object-oriented mechanisms of encapsulation and static polymorphism (templates) according to the Barton-Nackman's trick (1994) and the idea proposed by Furnish (1998). The format of the software is generic along the lines of the generic programming paradigm proposed by Musser and Stepanov (1994) for the C++ Standard Template Library (1996). This feature implies that the software is not affected by a specific model problem nor by a built-in approximation technique. Thus, it can be used as a building block in developing numerical software for finite element or finite volume approximations on 2-D unstructured meshes in engineering and applied mathematics applications. Abstract
  • The software interface P2MESH is a collection of C++ class templates suitable for developing prototypes of high-performance PDE solvers on unstructured 2-D meshes. P2MESH supports several discretization methods on triangles and quadrilaterals, such as finite volume or finite element. The design philosophy of P2MESH does not consider specific model problems or built-in approximation algorithms. The software package is general purpose and it may also be used as a building block in the implementation of numerical codes both for engineering applications and mathematical problems. (literal)
