Abstract
  • The objective of the project VFF is the design, implementation and validation of a standardized, holistic, extendible and scalable framework for virtual factories. This VF framework is meant to support all phases of the factory life cycle thinking of the factory to be a complex and long living product following the paradigm \"factory as a project\". By providing one single source of information in a semantic database being accessed by the newly developed or adapted exiting modules via the VF manager, the VF framework allows for an improvement of factory planning, simulation and monitoring, thus increasing performance, quality and reliability. In this document, the results of task 7.2 \"Scenarios\" are presented. Since task 7.2 is a demonstration activity, the main outcomes of this task are the implementations of the VFF concept in eight industrial use cases of the companies covering four scenarios as shown in Figure 1. Next to the implementation, a description of each industrial use case was elaborated where - deriving from the \"As-Is-Situation\" - the \"To-Be-Situation\" is explained. Based on this, a detailed description of the scenario with all included modules and their purpose for the use case as well as their interaction with the VFF data model is given. In the subsequent task 7.3 the implemented industrial use cases will be validate by the end users to proof the success of the approach in terms of performance, quality and availability. (literal)
