- The specific tasks of the Contractor IPA 11-14 n.: 4500143042 Istituto di
Geologia ambientale e Geoingneria- CNR, within the Project Assessment analysis of Seismologic Risk
and geohazard vulnerability of first level in major Cultural Heritage Sites of Albania, are briefly described in
the following steps.
The contractor has participated at the project kick off meeting in Tirana 19th April 2011,
and he delivered a presentations in ppt (Power Point) format on \"Lesson in Risk
Preparedness for Cultural Heritage Sites: Rome and L'Aquila Experiences\". In the
presentation was introduced the importance to evaluate geohazard in urban areas, in terms
of prevention and managing of natural disasters, and the application of seismic microzonation
and local seismic response methodologies in urban and archaeological areas. Such an
outline is intended to be used for individuating the basic criteria and for the elaboration of
general assessment methodologies for Seismologic Risk and Geohazard Vulnerability in major
cultural heritage sites
The 19th November 2011 the CNR working group participated at the \"Training Workshop on
Disaster Risk Preparedness and Management\" in Berat, with a presentation on \"Seismic risk assessment
and prevention at the WHS of the city centre of Rome: lessons learnt from the Palatino case\". From 19th the
Working Group start a specific geological and geophysical field surveys on the sites of interest,
in order to validate and implement the basic geological and geomorphological information
provided by the Albanian project experts.
This activity is aimed to producing an accomplished and unified assessment analysis
tool in Seismologic Risk and Geohazard Vulnerability at first level of investigation, in selected
major cultural heritage sites of Albania, such as: Berat, Gjirokastra, Butrinti, Apollonia. The
geophysical data field work was carried out also with the Team of Prof. Llambero Duni, Albania.
In this final report we present the result of the different tasks regarding the archaelogical,
the seismic Hazard and the seismic microzonation of first level of Albanian Cultural Heritage
Sites. (literal)
