Abstract
  • In recent years there has been a wide proliferation of wireless applications and services. Most of them operate in unlicensed spectrum band which has resulted in what is called \textit{spectrum overcrowding}. However, careful analysis conducted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) show that most of the licensed bands are surprisingly underutilized. For this reason, the networking community is studying and addressing the resources problem through the creation of new classes of technologies. Among these the Cognitive Networks (CNs) seem to be the answer to the spectrum overcrowding. (literal)
