- Abstract
- Viscous attenuation in a standing wave is analyzed with weakly compressible SPH. The dissipation mechanisms are explored firstly by comparing the kinetic energy decay with an approximate analytic solution, secondly by considering a decomposition of the mechanical energy variation which highlights the effect of the weakly compressibility assumption and thirdly by analyzing, using the enstrophy, the dissipation related to the generation of spurious vorticity. The roles of the Reynolds number and the number of neighboring particles are analyzed. (literal)
