  • In Section 2 of this deliverable, the current state of the art of wiki systems for the collaborative editing of semantic knowlege, focusig the attention in particular on the most relevant wiki systems for ontology editing currently available is analyzed. Starting from a brief description of the main features of these systems, at the end of the Section the main features and issues to be faced in order to set up an environment for collaborative ontology editing are summarized. This analysis constituted a fundamental input to provide useful suggestions and hints to develop the Wikyoto Knwoeldge Editor. In Section 3 is described the way the KYOTO Central Ontology is accessed in the Wikyoto Knowledge Editor and how the Ontology is exploited in order to map Domain WordNets to. In conclusion, Section 4 goes over the fundamental issues that have been faced by Wikyoto in order to ease both the browsing of the KYOTO Ontology and the instantiation of WordNet to KYOTO Ontology mappings. Abstract
  • This deliverable, starting from the description of the most relevant currently available systems for collaborative knowledge and ontology editing, summarizes the main features and issues that need to be faced by such a kind of systems. Then the attention is focused on Wikyoto Knowledge Editor and the ways it manages and interacts with the KYOTO Central Ontology. In the KYOTO system the main support for multilinguism so as to semantically process and retrieve contents is obtained by mapping the WordNets of the different languages involved in the Project to the KYOTO Central Ontology: thanks to the Wikyoto Knowledge Editor KYOTO users can relate the language-specific lexical patterns formalized in each WordNet to the language-independent information contained in the Central Ontology. During the last few years, all the issues related to collaborative ontology editing also strictly connected to the definition of wiki patterns to edit semantically-grounded knowledge have been deeply analyzed in a lot of projects, resulting in many different proposals of tools and ad hoc methodologies. All of them are of great importance so as to start from their experiences and results in order to define the requirements, the working patterns and the design of the Wikyoto Knowledge Editor as far as concern all the issues related to the management of the KYOTO Central Ontology and the definition of proper WordNet to Ontology mappings.
