- Abstract
- Emmer and spelt are two ancient cultivated species of hulled wheat that have been replaced with unhulled wheat. However, in Italy and elsewhere, they are becoming promising niche crops. Their success is due to their sensorial charactersistics and remarkable potential as alternative crops for marginal areas. Twenty-nine accessions of emmer and twenty-four accessions of spelt were grown in 6 different environments of two regions in southern Italy (Molise and Basilicata) over a period of 6 years. This was done to choose the best accessions in terms of yield and stability. (literal)
