- Abstract
- One friendly way of producing energy is photobiological H2 production using the the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. A number of D1 protein mutant has been screened for its H2 evolution capacity. Mutants carry a double amino acidic substitution or a deletion in the loop connecting helices D and E of D1 protein. Some fo them have proved to be 5 times more productive as compared to the cc124 strain, the strain commonly utilized for hydrogen experiments worldwide. (literal)
