Abstract
  • The present invention relates to metal-free org. photosensitizers having the general structure I : GD-R2-L-A, wherein A is an electron-withdrawing group, L is a spacer of formula II, III, or IV, wherein R3 and R4, equal or different from each other, are selected from the group comprising H, -R5, or -OR5, where R5 is a C1-C10 linear or branched alkyl chain; R2 is an unsatd. -(C = C)n- or -(C?C)n-, wherein n = 0-2 and GD is an electron-donor group. The invention also relates to the process for their prepn. and the use of such compds. for manufg. solar cells. Thus, solar cells manufd. using the compd. of formula V (prepn. provided) in two solns., ethanol (A1, A2) and dichloromethane (B1, B2), resp., at a concn. of 4 × 10-3, had Jsc = 4.63 (A1), 5.47 (A2), 4.88 (B1) and 4.17 (B2), measured under short circuit (mA/cm2) conditions; Voc = 0.677 (A1), 0.656 (A2), 0.721 (B1), and 0.730 (B2), measured under open circuit (V) conditions, fill factor = 0.676 (A1), 0.644 (A2), 0.705 (B1) and 0.672 (B2), and ? = 2.25% (A1), 2.46% (A2), 2.64% (B1), and 2.18% (B2), resp. (literal)
