Abstract
  • This report is a survey of weeds in maize in key maize growing regions in Europe. The survey was based on the response to a questionnaire sent to maize specialists in 11 countries asking for information about weed occurrence in maize crops before weed control is carried out. Input was obtained from all contacted experts representing Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain (north and south) and the UK. In the present survey a total of 203 different weed species were reported, of which 61 weed species were reported as being \"Very common\" in at least one country. A table showing frequency of these 61 species in all 11 countries is included. The report further includes frequency maps of 16 important weed species. (literal)
