Abstract
  • In this paper we address Profinet, an industrial communication standard based on Ethernet, designed to be employed at different levels of factory automation systems. After a general description, we focus on the two application layer protocols specified by the standard, namely Profinet CBA and Profinet IO. In detail, we present the results obtained from a set of tests we carried out. Regarding Profinet CBA, the tests have been executed on an experimental set-up, whereas for Profinet IO we show the outcomes of some numerical simulations. (literal)
