  • The \"Virtual Museum of the ancient via Flaminia\" and particularly the reconstruction of the Villa of Livia is the first archaeological project developed through several media and technologies at the same time. The reconstruction of an archaeological area which is a cultural heritage site of great value, even if nowadays its fruition is very limited to the public: although open to the pubblic, the villa is located at the border of the traditional touristic routes and totally covered by a permanent roof which prevents the public to have a clear and complete overview of it. The villa is therefore hardly difficult to be understood in its archaeological structure as well as in its historical and cultural value. The virtual reconstruction, instead, aims to effectively communicate complex data throughout a direct and detailed view of the entire area. (literal)

  • 2. Besides the reconstructive interpretation, the case of the Villa of Livia provides a model of knowledge, communication and interaction of a complex cultural \"object\" towards three main user's typologies: - The average user: the use of a rich and stratified system of information, the multiuser approach and the immersive environment aim to foster and ease the learning process of the archaeological, historical and cultural contents. - The scientific community: the data and sources transparency, the stratification of the virtual reconstruction at different layers and with different levels of reliability allow to see the application as an open platform and enable experts to check, correct or suggest additional/alternative interpretations. - The virtual community: the project aims to involve the community of those interested in the updates of the virtual world, not only in terms of technologies, but also and mainly as expression of a methodology which aims to use the \"virtual reality\" as a mean of communication and learning. Descrizione sintetica
  • The virtual reality system for the Museo Nazionale delle Terme di Diocleziano consists in a virtual room provided with four interactive platforms. Users explore and share the virtual space through avatars: with their actions they create a virtual \"show\" which can be seen from the audience on a central screen. There are two levels of exploration: 1. A free navigation where users can move into the space following their own personal curiosity, enterprise or perception; 2. A narrative level where audiovisual media/materials, reconstructions and narrative sheets are provided. Whenever a new group of users join the application, the “show” will be different, since it will be developed in an unpredictable way. On the main screen, a sort of general \"direction\", different visual and informative contents will occur as the user makes changes to the camera shot position. The whole audio system is shared and has 3D stereophonic sounds. (literal)
