Abstract
  • Stereotyped expressions, idioms, proverbs: a sequence of words to express a feeling, an event, to delineate a situation, either simply to underline or to put evidence on something. Very often the use of such expressions looks hackneyed and old-fashioned, even conservative. It reveals a way of thinking irritatingly out of mode, and it proposes worn-down trivialities which are negatively connoted as a traditional and scarcely progressive way of being. In this talk I have tried to explore the meaning and the prototypical suggestions of a portion of stereotyped expressions, where \"dogs\" are the central matter of the metaphor and of the idiomatic sentence.
