  • Nanometric powder (5-10 nm) of yttrium oxide and Ybdoped yttrium oxide were obtained by microwave assisted polyol and urea methods. The as-synthesised amorphous powders became crystalline after calcination. SEM and TEM analysis of the as-synthesised and calcined particles showed scarce agglomeration with round and uniform shape. The influence of precursor concentration, dopant presence, and after synthesis treatments were analysed to verify their effect on shape, size and particles agglomeration. The work was carried out in order to prepare primary particles to be used for laser source applications (literal)
