- In this work Zn nanoparticles are produced and oxidized in the gas-phase and analysed by ADB, TEM, XRD and, in-situ, by SAXS. The general framework that is gained is that Zn nanoparticles, which undergo oxidative process, can be subjected to quick re-evaporation and contemporary formation of a thin oxide layer at their surface. The main size mode is observed to shrink slightly as effect of oxidation. Further, the condensation of re-evaporated Zn vapors can occur with consequent formation of very fine entities, sometimes observed at the surface boundary of larger nanoparticles as necklace.
