  • Work focus on FePt nanoparticles, which we have grown by sputtering on both MgO and SrTiO3, in order to exploit the different FePt/substrate matching to modify particle morphology, size and inter-particle separation. The nanoparticles are epitaxially oriented with easy magnetisation c-axis perpendicular to the film plane, show an average size down to 20 nm, tunable coercivity (a few Teslas to fractions of Teslas) and tunable magnetic regime.
