- Abstract
- Le attività della commessa comprendono lo studio dei meccanismi cellulari e dell' eziogenesi di disordini del sistema nervoso, in particolare l'epilessia e l'emicrania. Vengono investigati anche aspetti del funzionamento e dello sviluppo dei sistemi uditivo ed olfattivo. Un programma di rilievo riguarda la segnalazione intracellulare - in particolare da Ca2+, cAMP, fosforilazioni e il suo ruolo in disordini quali la sindrome di Alzheimer. Un altro filone si occupa di caratterizzare meccanicisticamente l'azione di neurotossine, di sfruttare la loro azione a scopi terapeutici, e di sviluppare inibitori dell'azione tossica. Importante è la ricerca su vari aspetti della fisiopatologia mitocondriale, sui fenomeni ossidoriduttivi nel funzionamento e in patologie cellulari e d'organo, in particolare in sindromi ischemiche, e sul ruolo fisiologico della proteina prionica.
