Abstract

• Le attività del modulo riguardano la preparazione e lo studio di materiali magnetici massivi e nanostrutturati per applicazioni avanzate nel campo del data storage e della sensoristica, dell'energetica e della nanomedicina. Coerentemente con la tradizione del gruppo, parte dell'attività è anche dedicata alla realizzazione di nuovi strumenti e tecniche di misura e allo sviluppo di modelli teorici e di simulazione. In particolare vengono preparati e studiati film sottili, multistrati, materiali nanocompositi e/o confinati lateralmentte e nanomagneti per applicazioni nei mezzi per la registrazione magnetica, nella spintronica, nella sensoristica e nel settore biomedico. Vengono inoltre realizzati e studiati nuovi materiali superconduttori e composti intermetallici multifunzionali con effetti magnetoelastici e magnetocalorici giganti. Vengono messe a punto tecnologie abilitanti alla refrigerazione magnetica a temperatura ambiente, che rappresena un'alterantiva ecocompatible alla tradizionale compressione dei gas. Le attività sono svolte nell'ambito di progetti regionali, nazionali e internazionali che in alcuni casi vedono il coinvolgimento diretto di aziende. (literal)
