- Abstract
- Malattie a lunga degenza e patologie inabilitanti hanno rilevanza sociale ed economica in paesi come l'Italia, dove l'età media della popolazione è in continuo aumento. Cercare nuovi e più efficienti farmaci per intervenire sul decorso di malattie che si protraggono nel tempo o anche solo sulla sintomatologia ed effetti inabilitanti significa puntare ad un decorso migliore per il paziente e ad una riduzione dei costi per terapie e strutture di sostegno. L'obiettivo di questo modulo è di creare i presupposti per la produzione di molecole per l'industria farmaceutica attraverso studi sulle interazioni molecolari tra proteine coinvolte in patologie e loro ligandi endogeni di natura lipidica, sfruttando, tra l'altro: 1) metodi di sintesi organica e \"molecular modelling\" per studi delle relazioni tra struttura e attività farmacologica di ligandi già noti; 2) approcci di lipidomica, per l'individuazione di nuovi mediatori lipidici coinvolti in patologie; 3) tecniche di biochimica, per lo screening in vitro delle attività farmacologiche di interesse; e 4) modelli animali delle patologie in esame per studi pre-clinici sui composti più interessanti, attraverso collaborazioni esterne.
